This chocolate cake is so easy and it stays moist for a long time! Everyone loves it!


  • 4 Cups Water
  • 500g Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Bicarbonate of soda
  • 4 Cups sugar
  • 8 Tablespoons Cocoa
  • 8 Eggs
  • 6 Cups SR flour
  • icing sugar
  • Cocoa for icing

Step 1

Place Water, butter (chopped) Cocoa, Sugar and Bi carb soda in a large saucepan and put on stove and stir until melted. Bring to boil for 1 minute. Mixture will rise, watch it does not boil over as it rises. Allow to cool. Add flour and eggs and stir until combined. Mixture will be quite runny. Put in square roaster and cook in oven at 150-155 degrees for 70 minutes or until cooked. Turn out cake when cool. Ice as desired.

Chef's Tips

Half mixture for baby saute pan. 3/4 recipe for 28 cm saute pan. Can decorate cake with chocolate icing- kit kats, wafers, maltesers, lindt balls, smarties, jaffas and more chocolate of course!
