Low in fat but high in flavour! A quick, simple yet delicious chicken dish which the whole family will love.


  • 750g chicken thigh fillets
  • 200ml Shaosing (Chinese cooking wine)
  • 1/3 cup light soy sauce
  • 1 Tbs Honey
  • 1 tspn fresh ginger, crushed
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, crushed
  • 5 whole star anise
  • 1 tspn Sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1/4 cup Water

Step 1

Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced) for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Trim chicken of all fat and place in 28cm Saute Pan.

Step 3

In jug, combine remaining ingredients (except for garnish) and stir well. Pour mixture over chicken.

Step 4

Place Saute Pan over medium heat and bring mixture slowly to the boil.

Step 5

Transfer pan to middle shelf of preheated oven and cook, uncovered for 20 minutes.

Step 6

Turn chicken in liquid and cook for a further 20 minutes or until cooked through.

Step 7

Serve with plain steam rice garnished with chilli and onion.
