Low Fat Fish Burgers in Wholemeal Buns

Ditch those greasy burgers and enjoy a fresh home-made version!

Ingredients

  • 500g blue eye or ling fish fillets, finely chopped
  • 2 cups baby spinach, finely chopped
  • 3 green onions finely chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp soy sauce, low salt
  • 1 egg white lightly beaten
  • 1 cup fresh wholemeal breadcrumbs
  • Wholemeal buns or bread rolls to serve

Step 1

Preheat over to 150°C.

Step 2

Combine all burger ingredients together, mix well to evenly distribute the fish and breadcrumbs.

Step 3

Form into eight patties.

Step 4

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Heat Frypan over medium heat.

Step 6

Add 1 teaspoon of oil, then four burger patties.

Step 7

Cook on gentle heat for 5-6 minutes each side.

Step 8

Keep warm in hot oven while cooking remaining burgers.

Step 9

Place washed and dried salad items in each roll, top with burger and a dollop of mashed avocado. Serve immediately.

Chef's Tips

If using frozen fish, make up the patties and squeeze out excess liquid before shaping into burgers.
