In 10 minutes you can create the perfect Poached Pears in Red Wine - What is not to love?

  • 6 firm pears peeled but with steam attached
  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar

Step 1

Put the wine in the pressure cooker with the cloves, cinnamon, and sugar. Mix well to dissolve.

Step 2

Add the pears to the pressure cooker and close and lock the lid (setting 2).

Step 3

Heat on high heat, when the pressure cooker reaches pressure, lower the heat to the minimum needed to keep at pressure.

Step 4

Cook at pressure for 7 mins. After 7 mins, use the natural release method - move the cooker off the burner and wait for the pressure to come down on its own.

Step 5

Remove the pears carefully and set aside.

Step 6

Put the pressure cooker back on medium-high heat, without the lid, bring to a gentle boil and reduce the cooking liquid to a third of the original amount (stir occasionally).

Step 7

Drizzle syrup on pears, serve with vanilla ice cream.

Chef's Tips

Keep pears in the syrup in the fridge for up to 1 week.
